Joplin Notes Is Freakin' Awesome!

I've always just kept notes in Apple Notes but it gets to a point where it becomes a shitfight to keep track of what's where very quickly as your separate notes add up. The heirarchy of Joplin's notes makes organising notes a combined nerdgasm of organisation and project management. It's fucking brilliant!

Notebooks are "infinitely" stackable. You can have notebooks all the way down, Mr Sagan! Notebooks within notebooks within notebooks... You can have todo lists, or notes. You have a markdown editor (left side of actual note panel) or just direct editing (the right side only, at full width) in simple, but rich formatting. It's not twice as good as Apple Notes, it's not 20 times as good, it's orders of magnitude more useful and powerful! And it's still simple to use.

Also, Evernote fans might recognise some uncanny similarities. That's because the very reason for Joplin's existence is to be a free version of Evernote and a cheaper cloud background. (Joplin Cloud) For those with the resources, you don't even need Joplin Cloud, it natively supports Joplin Cloud, Dropbox, Onedrive, standard WebDAV, any SMB network filesystem, Nextcloud and beta support is also provided for S3 and Joplin Server, the latter being a Docker container for a sync server to setup your own private sync service.

Migrating old notes is easy for Evernote users and natively supports Evernote ENEX files as either HTML or Markdown format, while apps are available to export you Apple Notes to Markdown or HTML for import into Joplin. Export and backups of Joplin are just as easy and versatile. The App is simple and, other than if you need a simple, native cloudsync, totally free, but if you do like it, please donate to the Joplin app project at the Joplin donations page, which als has a few other things to do that are helpful to the project.

I Am a Man of Many Projects

Some might argue, "Too many!" As individuals, we are the sum of our ideas, that equation for me results in "technological Trotskyite with a twist." Endless revolution is consensus anarchy in loose collectives, for example the best of the best of free, free, open-source software. Such a group works tirelessly to create an app for community benefit, rewarding significant contributors with "commit privileges" on the version manager where the project is maintained, the collective of contributors having voting rights on who is doing well as a maintainer. The titles are not very anarchistic, but they actually don't have to have any meaning other than the role a person chooses to take on the project. If a fee is charged for the app, the maintainers and regular contributors, get an equal share of the profits. Meanwhile, Developing a MIDI, Tap-Tempo, Master-Clock Pedal...

Kind of the other inspiration for the Robo-Drums, I've also been thinking about a MIDI Master Clock that started with the WAY TOO AMBITIOUS idea of a central 2-way, DINsync-MIDI-And-Back Master Clock, that I thought would be cool to add tap-tempo to. (Draws HUGE breath after that mouthful!) I dug out one of my Wio Terminal micros, promptly killed it on a distraction, dug out the other and started developing this concept. The left and centre buttons will probably have a gang reserved for straight switching of start/stop and pattern-select, as well as for triggering to Wio Term to do MIDI.sendStart/MIDI.sendStop (left) and MIDI.programChange. (Center.) The right button will be the tap-tempo button. The toggle switches will select normally-open/closed modes for the analogue button-out function. On the tap tempo stuff, I got to thinking about " Kilroy's Blues " •1 , a song I wrote back in the mid "noughties," and how it would be cool to "pedal"
